Our Events: March 2020
March 4, 2020DRC Values
March 19, 2020It’s good to read. It’s important to read. It’s kind of necessary to read. In fact, if you’re reading this before Sunday March 15, 2020 you’re getting early notice that we are revealing our first ever “DRC Reads” book!
Once in a while, we will suggest a book to read together as a church. We’ll then have a time for desserts and discussion about the book. Our first book is titled, “Spectacular Sins” by John Piper. You can buy a paper copy off Amazon. We will sell a few on Sundays. BUT you can also download (or just read) a free pdf version from the DesiringGod.org website. (links provided below)
It’s short. It’s not too stuffy (academic). It’s not too fluffy (it will make you think). It’s also FREE!
But First a Quick Review
John Piper delivers biblical reassurances to bolster our trust in the sovereignty of God, because it’s easy to wonder how the mess and pain of this world co-exists with Jesus’ words: “All authority in heaven and earth belongs to me”?
There are answers to the “spectacular” sins of others and the tragedies of this life. You will discover their global purpose and what they mean to you personally.
When the latest accident, illness, or natural disaster comes, we can believe that God is still in charge and still working His eternal purposes. This book will bolster your trust in the sovereignty of God. It’s a declaration that because everything occurs through Christ and for His glory, we are forever secure in Him.
If we want to be a “deep” church, we must pursue God on Monday-Saturday. We can’t simply depend only on our Sunday experience to grow as people – and to grow as a church. Reading this short book together will help you go deeper. And we’ll have dessert and fun talking it over!
This “book club” will not only make your faith deeper, it will give you a great chance to connect with others at DRC! You will be glad to took the time to join us.
