We are 11 months away from launch, and we are beginning to feel the reality of what God is leading us to do. It’s exciting and incredibly faith building to see God provide over and over.
As you can see from the above pic, this is our new reality: papers strewn, letter writing, list making, and the random vinaigrette dressing left on the table from last night’s dinner. I know. Super glamorous, only superseded by the studliness of my amazing husband’s cheaters.
Provision of Encouragers
Matt has had encouraging conversations with guys who pastor and desire to see the Kingdom of God expand in our region. It’s been refreshing to hear others talk about unity and working together, and incredibly encouraging as they have expressed support toward Deep Rivers Church, and desire to walk with us, not knowing yet what that will look like. Other men in the body of Christ continue to call back wisdom and encouragement to our family, understanding the position we are in, and fighting for us in prayer. We continue to be overwhelmed at the kindness of God in connecting us with those who are Kingdom minded. Our approach in the harvest field might be different, but the goal is the same: to equip the saints for the work of service, and to bring in the large harvest that we all sense is coming.
This past month Matt organized a men’s breakfast and had a good turnout. He enjoyed just hanging out with these guys, and encouraging them. Out of this time, the idea of a one night retreat and work day at Camp Hebron was proposed, and the guys seemed glad for the opportunity. Camp Hebron was very generous and it looks like the guys will be able to go in November for a minimal cost. If you’re interested in going, and well, you’re a guy, contact Mattsoon.
Women’s Ministry: “I heard Him!”
Nicole continues to meet with a group of women Tuesday nights in our home. These women represent 5 different churches, and with that, at least 5 different understandings on how we relate to God the Holy Spirit. It has been such an amazing time of listening to one another with a desire to learn and understand each other’s “lingo.”
In this study and through Scripture, we are beginning to understand our birthright as daughters of the King to hear our Father’s Voice (John 10) What joy when one woman, after being prompted to call a friend she hadn’t spoken to in awhile, did so, only to find out her friend really needed encouragement and prayer. She said, “I never heard God that clearly before, but now I know, I heard Him!”
At Deep Rivers Church, we believe that because we are loved by God our Father and have been adopted as His sons and daughters, it is our birthright to hear Him speak to us through His Spirit, Who will always speak and lead according to the Word of God. Nicole finds such joy in helping other women “tune in” to His voice, and to watch them discover they’ve actually been hearing Him all along, and now, to count it.
Interest Meetings. Food. Good Food.
We hosted our first Interest Meeting on September 24.
This is a pretty accurate representation of what we ate that night. Pics were scheduled but the food was inhaled.
Fam. The food was amazing. Seriously.
We’ve been encouraged by others who’ve gone down this road to keep it simple, but what could be more fun than cooking your favorite foods for your favorite people?
We’re hosting these monthly meetings for you to come and be with us, hear our heart, share your passion and see how it all connects. We believe we’re loved by God, empowered by His Spirit and are sent in this sphere for the freedom and joy of all we encounter.
Do you know you’ve been strategically placed here? Do you know why God has gifted you the way He has? Are you walking in the health of relationship with God? Do you know your identity? Are you able to tune into the voice of your Father through His Spirit alive in you?
There. Is. More.
You are invited to our next dinner on Saturday evening, November 18, from 5-7. Childcare is provided upon request. Send Nicole and email and she will send you the rest of the details.
This beautiful darlin’ is in her senior year. She started a job at CommunityAid in Harrisburg and has found favor there. We love this place, and through this job, Emily will be able to pay for her schooling at HarvestNet in Ephrata next year! What provision! Em was asked by her peers to lead a discipleship leadership group which she will host twice a month at our home. She lights up any room she walks into, laughs easily at herself, and fights hard for her goals. She’s a joy to be around and we’re so thankful she will be near one more year!
This beauty has a heart of gold. This pic is of Anna heading out to Color Guard for The Big Blue Band from Falconland. Anna loves to challenge herself and try new things. When she sets her mind to something, she ends up doing it! She took up trumpet this year, and now in addition to Color Guard, joins the band during the footballs games for stand tunes! We get to attend her first concert in the Winter… did I mention she’s had maybe 7 total personal lessons? Anna is compassionate, generous, and has the sharpest wit you will ever encounter. She’s truly a joy.
Joshua turned 14 this past month and has the depth of voice to prove it. Our little boy is little no longer, and we are loving this new stage of life with him. Within the past month, some internal changes have come about in Josh, and we see him more alive, engaged and joyful. He has a depth of insight that makes us think and see things differently. He is funny, creative, and engaging. We are so grateful for the peace we are seeing in him, and praise God for this special son.
And here is me. You’re friendly newsletter writer. I’m trying to be better about including pics of myself along with my fam, but I will admit I had fun with the blemish editor in getting rid of the bags under my eyes.. well mostly!
This has been a challenging season, and I’ve had to learn to lean into it. I’ve had to say no to the really good, and lean into what I’m called to do. And right now I’m a worshiper of the one true God who is my Life and Light, the wife of an amazing husband, the mom of three amazing kids, and a church planter.
I’m learning how to war in worship, and worship in war prayer. I’ve had to take authority over my mind, will, emotions, home, and work more times than I can count. I’ve wept over injustice and cried tears of pure worship. I’ve seen my kids grow in relationship with God even as they’ve wrestled with our circumstances. I’ve seen my husband humbled time and time again, and continue to press into God as He continues to restore. I’ve seen women receive answers to prayer they never thought possible. I’ve seen women hear God speak for the first time. I’ve seen two women receive instant healing as we prayed for them! The Kingdom of God is near!
We know that we know we have been called here to Hummelstown. What I want to know is…. do you? What is your purpose? Why are you living here? What is your part in helping others see Jesus? Why has God strategically placed you here, for such a time as this? If you don’t know, or aren’t sure, we’d love to help you figure it out. The time here on earth is so short! And the harvest is so ripe! Shoot us an email, we can’t wait to meet with you!
We love you guys. Thanks for reading through this. We’d love to pray with and for whatever is on your heart.
