Hello friends! It’s been quite a long time since we’ve last updated, but we think it’s worth the wait….welcome to our new website! Our good friends at stryvcreative.com have been working hard at helping us figure out what in the world we are doing… and they do it with grace 🙂 Take a look around and tell us what you think! You can reach us at email@example.com
Since our last update, we’ve been pretty busy behind the scenes. In addition to our logo being finalized and our business cards printed, we had the opportunity to sponsor Lower Dauphin’s Marching Band this year. Check this out:
Anna has been quite the champion of Deep Rivers Church and was pretty excited to see our name on the back of her band shirt. We are honored to invest in the lives of these students in our community.
Matt has begun to receive a stipend from the generous foundation that is partially supporting him. Because of this, he was able to reduce his hours at Walter’s and now works 2-3 days for them. He was pulling up to 14 hour days there, which was welcome income for us this summer, and now we are super thankful for dedicated days he can meet with mentors and friends who are walking with us in this season. He’s been doing a lot of work on mission and vision statements, which you can see reflected in the “about us” section of this site. He continues to lead Second Saturday Prayer at our home which has seen answers to prayer as we have sought His face in community with whomever would come. If you are not yet on the invite list, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make sure to send you a reminder for the next one.
Nicole began leading a group of women through Forgotten God bible study, and it’s been pretty amazing to see whom God brought to this group. 15 women from 6 different churches are atttending, and all are learning one another’s lingo as they pursue relationship with God through His Spirit. As a group, the women are tuning into the Voice of our Father, which is our birthright as a believer in Jesus, and are following Him where He leads. We are learning to respond to the promptings of the Spirit, counting them as His desire to reach those in our sphere of influence. And we are learning to respond to the promptings of the Spirit as He leads us into deeper sanctification, asking us to trust Him as He exposes attitudes and fears. It’s been so good. Nicole reduced her “paying job” hours over the summer as administrative the needs for Deep Rivers Church, the kids, and prep for teaching began to add up. It’s an act of faith, but God has been so faithful!
Matt and Nicole got to teach on our authority in Christ with our community back in IN. It’s been awesome to see how God has been growing this community of believers in their ability to walk by the Spirit, and their desire to know how to stand in the identity we have as sons and daughters of the King. This resource was recommended to us by our friends at Two Rivers Church, and we in turn highly recommend it. It’s been a much needed paradigm shift for us. It was also such a joy to teach together and see how God reflects Himself more fully through both of us. Let us know if you are interested in learning more about this.
The kids are doing well, and have begun to own their part in Deep Rivers, which is an answer to prayer. Emily has a great job at Community Aid and will be able to pay for her next steps at HarvestNet School of Supernatural Ministry next fall after graduation from Lower Dauphin. This is such an answer to prayer, and we are so grateful for this clear next step for her. She’s also a much needed third driver in our home, and has redeemed a lot of time for me personally. Anna is our newest ambassador for Deep Rivers and keeps a little stack of our cards in her backpack to hand out. She joined band this year, even as she is learning the trumpet! That’s her in a nutshell and she brings us joy. Joshua is as tall as his sisters and “graduated” to the bass section in choir! He took us up on the challenge to run 100 miles this summer, and has the worn out shoes to prove it. He’s quietly tenacious…this will work well for him in the future.
We had the opportunity to visit our favorite Aunt Kathy in Ocean City, NJ this summer for a few days. The beach was a welcome respite, as well as seeing Kathy. A few weeks later we went camping up at the Little Grand Canyon at Leonard Harrison State Park. It rained like crazy the first day, but the second day it cleared up and we (okay, Nicole) enjoyed a hike down to the bottom of the canyon. It was good to get away.
We are beginning to host Interest Meetings once a month, with our first “practice run” on the 30th. This. Is. Happening. It’s exciting, encouraging and puts wind in our sails. We continue to be amazed at the people who are expressing interest, and how much the vision of Deep Rivers Church resonates with the hunger people have in their hearts for the abundant life we know we have been given, but have as yet be unable to access. If you’d like to make sure you are on this invite list, email us at email@example.com and put “interest meetings” in the subject line.
Look for our next blog entry that will have prayer request updates. One I wanted to highlight here was our need for a car. We received the best gift over the summer with a 14 year old Saturn Vue. We love it! It’s red, zippy, with a sun roof, it’s such a blast to drive. More importantly, it’s been a necessity with Matt, Emily and I all working. When we took it in for inspection, it was shown to have a wee bit of rust underneath, which automatically fails the PA inspection. Then while driving on a detour, an acorn hit the windshield pretty hard and put the smallest of divits into the glass. Nothing major and you have to look hard to find it, but again, that alone will disqualify it from passing inspection. (Argh PA!) We’d like to give this car to a friend of ours that lives in NJ and would be thrilled to drive it. The car is solid and would be perfect for her! We are asking God to “do it again,” to bless us with a car, and in turn to have the joy of blessing our friend with the Vue!
Thanks for reading through fam. We love you and are so grateful to be on this journey with you.
